RECENT RECRUITMENT VIDEO

REFER A YOUNG MSU LEADER TODAY!

Know a young leader at Michigan State University that you'd like to check out Delta Sigma Phi?

If he's the type of young man with the potential to be great, who wants to be a BETTER MAN, and a BETTER LEADER, and who can appreciate the great BROTHERHOOD our Alpha Pi Chapter cherishes, then complete the form today!

Once we receive the potential candidate's contact information, our Recruitment "RUSH" Chairmen will reach out and invite them to some of the upcoming Chapter/Recruitment events in the coming week, as well as get them information on RECRUITMENT "RUSH" WEEK, which takes place over 4-5 nights at the Chapter House.

Please complete the Referral Form below.

Recruitment "RUSH" Week typcially occurs every September & January, although the exact dates may vary from term-to-term and year-to-year.

INFORMAL MSU ALL-GREEK RECRUITMENT WELCOME EVENT:

InterFraternity Council (IFC) often  hosts an open informal GREEK RUSH event on campus, where every MSU Fraternity is represented by 2-5 Brothers.  This event is typically held on the Sunday before Formal Recruitment Week.

FORMAL CHAPTER HOUSE RECRUITMENT WEEK (usually 4-5 nights, 7-10 PM):

@ DELT SIG SPARTAN CHAPTER HOUSE

1218 E. GRAND RIVER AVENUE, EAST LANSING, MI 48823

(on E. Grand River  between Hagadorn Road & Bougue Street - EAST side of campus)

REQUIREMENTS:  Potential Candidates for Recruitment are required to attend at least 3 (preferrably all 4) nights of Formal Recruitment Week to be considered for Bid.

KEY NOTES for REFERRING ALUMNI

NO GUARANTEES

Neither completing the Referral Form, nor having a referred young man attend Recruitment "RUSH" Week, nor being a "LEGACY" (son/grandson/nephew or other relation to an Delt Sig Spartan Alumni) will guarantee that the young man will receive a Bid to Pledge our Fraternity.

NO ACB INVOLVEMENT

The Alumni Corporation Board (ACB) does not, nor desires to maintain any influence over the Chapter's decisions on who they'd like to Pledge the Fraternity.

However, the ACB strongly advises the Chapter Recruitment Leadership Team to give referred young men special consideration in their evaluations, and to extend every opportunity for that young man to show the Chapter who they are, get to know the Brothers and Chapter, express a desire to Pledge Alpha Pi.

IF HE GETS A BID

As with the Recruitment Process, the ACB does not involve itself in the day-to-day business of the Fraternity's New Member Program.  Outside of Chapter Advisor/ACB President introductions during their first New Member Meeting, and periodic communication with the New Member Education Team, the Undergraduate Chapter is running the show.

This means that ACB/Alumni involvement/meddling throughout the New Member Term is not acceptable.  We want every young man to get a fair shot at his own, personal Delta Sigma Phi experience.

A NON-BID ISN'T THE END

There are various reasons why a Potential Candidate will not receive a bid, reasons that the ACB/Alumni base are not always privy to.  Some common reasons are:  1) didn't attend 3-4 nights of Recruitment Week (scheduling conflicts, lack of interest, was at other fraternity rush events instead, etc), 2) didn't express interest in Pledging Delta Sigma Phi, 3) perceived academic conflicts, 4) parental lack of support, 5) waiting until next semester, etc.

However, those who do not receive a bid are always invited to come back and attend Recruitment "RUSH" Week during subsequent semesters - ideally the next available opportunity during Spring semester (early January).

Sometimes coming back again after not receiving a bid can impress the Chapter and demonstrate CHARACTER & LEADERSHIP, qualities that are cherished by Delta Sigma Phi.

However, sometimes Delta Sigma Phi and Potential Candidates simply aren't a proper fit.  There may be other MSU fraternities and other MSU student organizations that pair better with a Potential Candidates personality, ambition and interests.

WHO TO CONTACT WITH QUESTIONS

While the ACB prefers that Potential Undergraduate Candidates contact the Chapter Recruitment Chairmen directly, Alumni, Parents and Potential Candidates with questions on the Recruitment "RUSH" Process can also contact ACB Secretary, Bobby Flotkoetter, at their convenience.   Bobby, along with the Chapter Undergraduate Secretary, mentors the Undergraduate Recruitment Committee.
